Well I never usually write articles but for this I felt the need to. I have just finished an ED game, yes we all know ED isn’t the best of leagues in the UK but I suck and it’s the only way I can win games. I looked at the rules and it said ‘MR12’. I though mr12, I haven’t played this in a while, should be fun. Well this was one of the most fun games I have had playing counter-strike. So I am asking, was changing from mr12 to mr15 a good thing?
Pros:
In the mr15 rules the game is a lot quicker, more rushed and is more spectator friendly, so the CPL said. Yes, it’s much faster and better for the spectators. This will get more sponsors interested in a game if the spectators are watching it.
Cons:
The mr15 rule is worse for a playing point of view. I chose to play counter-strike over games such as Quake 3 and the newly release Painkiller because of the fact it isn’t just running about with a rocket launcher and blowing someone to pieces. It’s a much slower, tactical game which makes you think a lot more than other games.
Yes I know people will probably flame me about this but quite frankly I don’t care what you think about me, just the article. Because of this I have found counter-strike to be much more boring as you rush to a site and get 5 manned by some random. I would much rather have a game of counter-strike in which the round time is 3 minutes and you have time to think what your going to do rather than just rush before the time runs out. The CPL may think mr15 is better for spectators but to be honest, I would rather be it better when I play rather than watch a bunch of pros rushing each other.
I just want peoples views into why they think mr15 is better than mr12 and why leagues still play mr15 when quite frankly… its bollox

Now we all play MR15 because it's 'amateur' not to, and of course we all think we are at cpl and like to use 15 sec buytimes in PCWs just because it's "pro". [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

back in the day people would play arc, co or mr, depending on mood. but because everyone operates leagues based on the cpl (yeh cos how many people in csgn/ed or whatever are ever gonna get there?) thats what people play.
ed is the grassroots community these days, they should possibly offer up arc and co ladders, see how popular they are. it might just inject a bit of fun back into the game for some people? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

The map timer stops when the bomb is planting, giving Ts an even larger incentive to get the bomb down on ecos.
Suiciding punishes the same as TKing for money.
As a result the overall speed of the game would increase, but it wouldn't be a rush every single round as we know CO wasn't like that from having played it for f*** knows how many years.
Teams wouldn't be able to suicide on an eco with any value.
CTs wouldn't be able to run away for hours from the final T, because the T can plant the bomb and halt the map timer.

Why? Because back when CO was played CS was fast paced with jumping accuracy on pistols, no slow zoom, no jump delay etc etc.
Sure, with the way CS is now MR is better, but back in the 1.1/1/3 days of CO games were certainly exciting, and wasnt just players crawling around spraying. Watch Frag Or Die to remind yourself just how much fun CS was then.

MR15 with RT1.45 BT15 seems to be a sweet spot.
Those 15 seconds are to let you tell your team the tactics. You then have 1.45 to execute those tactics. Rather than making it up as you go along.
You have all the time you need on most maps to execute the most complicated tactics drawing CT's to the wrong bombsite or 'round the world' style fakes etc. Maybe increase roundtime slightly on larger maps or set it 2mins

most the time the reason ppl hate the games is becuz there dire at it and get fed up of losing game after game and end up relizing theres no cheats for the game and leave it.
