Catachan & NeonRonin, over on 3D Action Planet, have come up with a new editorial based on the voice technology that was implemented in the latest Half-Life patch. 'Point/Counter-Point: Voice Technology' focuses on whether we really need this new technology 'when other third-party voice communication solutions exist?':"The problem with 3rd party software is that if something goes wrong on the server end of it, everything goes down in flames. A Half-Life voice server, on the other hand, will keep on going until the entire thing goes, meaning you will be using voice chat right up until you leave the game."
It's an interesting read.....personally I think it's ok for communication when in public, but for clan matches you still need Roger Wilco so you can talk to your team even when dead, a drawback with the in game voice comms.
