New Anti Cheat Software!

Posted by appz at 12:12 11/12/2001.

Ever since the popular Punkbuster software was made virtually redundant by the OGC Hook Cheat, there has been great demand for an update or a replacement.

New kid on the block Paladin-Anticheat could be the answer to all our prayers.

Yesterday the Paladin Client & Server for Win32 betas were released and a linux server is expected soon. You can check out the site and download the betas here.

If paladin works then cool, but Valve are working on their own anti-cheat software. I'd rather just wait for that than have another third party program that ends up just being a placebo.

I'd rather know I'm playing cheats, than think I'm on a 'safe server' and actually still be playing cheats. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Paladin itself is actually a wrapper over the original hl.exe (which is what ogc does). So it could be a pretty effective way to stop the way OGC is working. Seems to be good so far :D [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
