Matt, over @ ShackES.com, has written up his own recap of the CPL Worlds that took place last week. Rather than write about the winners and losers of the tournament, he says he wanted to focus on 'what the CPL did right/wrong in running the event, and what was good/bad about Counter-Strike as the game of the event'. Here's an interesting snippet:"Here's why I'm still not crazy about Counter-Strike:1. It's a slow, crouch-and-shoot game. For all the exciting, close matches that CPL Worlds featured, I was still watching something that I found fairly boring. Fights are decided in 1-3 seconds, and rounds are often determined by what team gets the first through-the-wall or long-range headshot kill of a round. Rounds are three minutes long but real action is only happening for 30-45 seconds of that. The rest is waiting, moving, regrouping. Stuff like that can be interesting, but it isn't as good as constant action."
I think even Matt would agree that he is probably biased towards Quake 3 style of play, so alot of people may not agree with his opinions. It is, however, a great read and makes for some interesting discussion points.
