I noticed an interesting news piece over on Clanbase, where they talk about a new 'deal' between top Danish clan, Spirit of Amiga, and Boomtown.net. Apparently, Boomtown will have 'exclusive HLTV broadcast rights' of all of SoA's online matches:"Team SoA and Boomtown have today entered an agreement, that gives Boomtown the exclusive HLTV broadcast rights to all of Team SoA’s official online matches. This agreement is the first of its kind in Denmark, and shows just how close eSports is getting to becoming a real genre of sports. Team SoA’s supporters, aswell as gamers nationwide with an interrest in Counter-Strike, will benefit a lot from this agreement. Up until now, it has been difficult, if not impossible, to see Team SoA in action."
I suppose it can only be good for the game but I'm not sure of how they plan to make this thing work. What if two clans have HLTV sponsors, or if the online league want to run their own HLTV, and not Boomtown's...then what? There's an interesting discussion going on, check it out.
