As I'm sure you all know, The Playing Fields, the UK's leading multiplayer gaming venue closed recently due to financial problems. Over its five year life, TPF developed a strong following and a community of staff and regulars.Today, at 8pm, TPF Alumni opened. Created and maintained by a whole host of people that could call TPF home, TPF Alumni is, in the words of co-founder Symon 'Rat' Hamer,
"A site for ex members of The Playing Fields both staff and client. It supports all independant LAN centers world wide, their staff and their clients. The idea for this site evolved from several minds during tpf's forum 'wake'. It ain't mine alone. I happened to have a credit card, a beer, and the time and place to register the URL. I've taken advantage of the fact most people know the name 'Rat', and got quite a few talented people involved in the thing, but that's all. I asked Ed and Charles if this would be ok, they nodded. We're official."To me, this is a very promising step and I'm sure TPF Almuni will go a long way in promoting the LAN scene in the UK and keep alive the community that TPF created.
Well done and good luck to all those involved from UKT.
