It seems that North America's top CS clan, Xtreme3 (CPL WC runner up), has all but disbanded according to their latest IRC topic:"X3 is going inactive from online CS and we are parting ways for now...GG...most of us will be playing in the draft league."Rumour has it that they'll be joining other clans in order to play online, but will come back for LAN tournaments with prize money on offer (CPL anyone?). For the best write up on the situation I recommend checking out ShackES news post on the matter, they've managed to get a little info from one of X3's members, Rambo:
"'It's not a break up, it's a break,' said rambo, tagless, explaining the situation that X3's players are currently in. 'It's something healthy for our clan. We've been playing with each other for too long, we just lost chemistry.'Who knows how it'll all work out in the end, but surely X3 won't be the force, in future, they were a few months ago. The news came after X3 lost heavily (19-5) to TSO last night.X3 players are now free to go looking for other online clans to play for, and most of their players will also be involved in draft league teams, where they'll almost all be first round draft picks on seperate teams. When I asked Rambo if X3 would still compete together at CPL he said 'I don't know'.
Rambo said that X3 just wasn't having fun playing together anymore (and it showed in their performance).
'Have you had a girlfriend for more then a year?' asked rambo. 'X3 is like Britney Spears. Even Britney gets old, but you don't want to lose her. So you just take a break.'

Another reason gaming is a LONG way from being pro. When things don't go the way you want, the simple thing is to disband. I doubt they sat down and said look, this is what's wrong now lets fix it. Whether it be a new roster or fresh attitude, who knows.
Professional sports teams don't disband when they're on a losing streak, they point out what's going wrong and fix it. X3, now, in my opinion were never a pro CS team, just a bunch of good mates who were also good at CS and then all of a sudden their ego's deflated when they realised they weren't the best.
Good luck to them all and I'm sure they'll form new clans and go onto say, "yeah this is gonna be much bigger than X3, you wait and see!" And then a few months later things will defuse...
Can't remember which one said it, but it was a noc member, "every clan has a death sentence upon birth, you just don't know when." [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
