Infinity eSports Win Insommnia LAN for 4th Time

Infinity eSports have broken the i10 record and taken the CS tournament by storm for the 4th consecutive time.

Infinity eSports qualified from their group without dropping a round winning both games 12 - 0 against CNN and a clan made up of ex-KMA players. They then won their first knockout 24 - 0 on Dust2, and defeated Barcodes for the 2nd time in just over a month 20 - 4 to put them into the finals against ghosties.

ghosties for those of you that don't know was a merc clan made up of: ripper, rhyzz, khaos, toomy, eleh. The Infinity eSports team consisting of Neffgen, renegade, danfrag, grim, liquid and lil up until the final. The final was to be played on de_nuke, with the now standard, maxrounds 12.

Infinity eSports took the early lead winning the first 3 rounds as terrorists, however it went downhill after that with them only getting 1 more round as ghosties pulled a superb comeback out the hat winning 8 out of the next 9 rounds winning the first half 8 - 4.

The second half began the same as the first with Infinity eSports winning the first 3 rounds against and then ghosties taking the 4th and 5th, losing the 6th and 7th, and taking the 8th and 9th meaning Infinity eSports needed to win the last 3 rounds to take the game into overtime. With the some great work by grim in a 1 vs. 1 on the 11th they succeeded in this and took the game into mr 3 overtime.

For once Infinity eSports started badly and lost the first round but did however pull off an impressive display to take the 2nd and 3rd meaning ghosties would have to win two to take the game deeper into overtime or 3 to win the game outright. Infinity eSports were able to hold firm and claimed the pistol round and 2nd round very easily snatching the trophy from what were probably their closest rivals in years.

I was able to speak to Neffgen of Infinity eSports for a brief word regarding his 4th successive insommnia CS title:

Are you the least bit concerned that a merc clan nearly defeated a well practised infinity-eSports team and do you think this could be the end of your dominance in the uk cs scene or new lifeblood into it?

Neffgen - A little concerned, but at the end of the day we got it together about 4 rounds from the end of nuke and all the way through inferno and didn't make any more mistakes. I don't think this is the end of our dominance in the UK as as you said, its a merc clan. They arent the first nor the last to play an I-series and this one just did really well. Plus they had good players, two from the UK national team and Rhyzz Eleh and Ripper who aren't slouches.

Who do you now see as the biggest threat for i11 providing that they go?

Neffgen - eCore I think are currently the main challengers for the #1 UK spot. lil played for us all the way up to the final and was great, so wouldn't like to play against him.

What were the prizes for winning this tournament?

Neffgen - £333.33, 5 ATI 8500 LE's and 5 copies or RTCW, and a spanking trophy.
