I won't beat about the bush, here's the word from Rogue1 on BWCSL's new anti-mercing rule:Over the last couple of weeks, we've encountered a new kind of abuse of our system. Some clans had discovered that since our previous mercing regulations did not apply to clans outside of BWCSL, they could bring in top-level players for their matches. This has resulted in some extremely unfair results in divisions 2 and 3 in particular, where a single player, not even a proper member of the clan he plays for, has won a match for a clan.Having been on the receiving end of one of these clans myself, I can only praise Rogue1 for finally doing something about it. Here's hoping the league will be much fairer now.
Therefore, effective immediately, clans may not field any players who compete in Clanbase Eurocup, CPL-Europe or WCG (including qualifiers) for a clan other than their own. I will be mailing the clans who will be affected by this that I am aware of over the weekend, but all clans should check their rosters as soon as possible for any players who will now be considered invalid, since any results involving these players from this point onwards will be forfeit. Checking will be in place to catch people who attempt to evade the system.
I understand that the introduction of this rule in the middle of a season, but since the loophole was discovered, abuse has become epidemic, to the point that the rest of the season will turn into a farce if action is not taken.
I'm sorry for those of you who are inconvenienced by this, but hopefully we should now see a fairer, more fun league.

he's reffering to me, as i play for MiNg-UK in division 3. But seeing as though i am not going to CPL Oslo or Dallas, not attending wcg, and not playing in Eurocup, i reckon that makes me still eligable :D [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Secondly, we have ways of checking for mercing that go beyond our WONID system. I'm not going to give details of it here, but suffice it to say that I'm confident that not many people will be able to get around them.
I know that a few people will be annoyed by these rules, especially the top level players who get to beat up some poor lower-div people once a week. However, it's my intention that BWCSL should be for fun and fair competition for clans of all levels. We've had almost a dozen instances of this abuse so far this season and in every case, people have objected. If top level players want to take part in our league, then their clans should join. If their clans don't want to join, then I'm afraid we can't allow our system to be abused like this. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

"i am no longer in noc, and i am quitting playing serious cs, my bad attitude, has annoyed too many people in the cs community to be tolerated any longer. So to those who i have irritated, i would like to apologise and hope that i won't bother you again. I'll just play for MMX for fun over the summer, then when i move in august, i won't take my pc with me."

I understand that my measures are draconian, but I'd ask you to think about it this way. We'll use Khaos as an example, since he seems determined to make himself into one. Say he plays in that division all season. MiNg-UK will win all of their matches. He'll enjoy the season, the rest of his clan will. However, to everybody who has to play them, it'll be clear that they've only lost their match because of a top-level player being friends with their opposition. Believe it or not, I've had official complaints from every clan Khaos has played against this season. Ultimately, that makes for 9 unhappy clans for 1 happy clan. Now, this isn't the only instance of this we've seen this season. A lot of other clans at lower levels are using top-level players. Maybe not on a weekly basis, as with Khaos, but we're seeing a lot more random world-class people showing up in our games.
We won't be backdating this rule to cover the whole season. It wasn't a rule at the time and I'm sure that some of the clans in question will have used their new players in all innocence, so it wouldn't be fair.
Please also note that the quotation from Khaos was out of context, from a confidential discussion and did, I admit, show me when I was getting close to losing my temper with his constant attempts to be an amateur lawyer. As I say, I'm sorry he's unhappy, but I have to put the wellbeing of the league above the happiness of just one or two people. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

As I remember it (there may be minor inaccuracies) SBS-Poole entered BWCSL in season 2, at a division 3 level. They spent all of seasons 2 and 3 in division 3, then went down to division 4 for season 4. At the end of season 4, MiNg-UK won promotion back up to season 3. Up until this point, there had been no real indications that they were at all inapproriate for those divisions. I should emphasise that I had never had any problems with them and bore them then (and bear them now) no ill-will. However, the point I am trying to make is that this is not like i-es being placed in division 3. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
