Today the November 2003 issue of PCGamer hit the shelves and with it, some more info about the heavily debated Team AMD Gamer.
The deal is this: we're going to be making gaming heroes. AMD will be paying for the team to travel to all the major events in Europe (possibly the world), allowing the players to pocket any prize money, whilst ensuring their machines utilise the very latest state-of-the-art technology...The team membres will also feature every month in PCGamer. With the massive prizes now going for CPL and other events around the world, three's big money to be had. All we want from you is the grumption to stand up and take it
Nothing in there that we didn't really expect, but we can now confirm some of the games that Team AMD Gamer will support: UT2003k, RTCW/ET, Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3, Age of Mythology.
How To Apply
For the first person shooters, we want clans. If that clan already exists, that's great. Can you create a supergroup of the UK's best players? Prove it. For Warcraft and the Ages of games, however, we need invididuals to sign up to the team. If you think you want this year long sponsorship, then send us the details. We're taking applications, via email, on tag@futurenet.co.uk
Interesting facts to note here is that they are considering just bringing top CS players from different teams together as well as already established teams. It is also a year long contract, so it requires a great deal of commitment, most likely from the 18 - 20 age range whom are in gap years or part time employment.
Once up and running, the team will tour the country and take on the world at the bigger tournaments, month by month. With the technical and monetary support from AMD and the massive coverage in PC Gamer itself, the team will be in superb shape to take the big titles and making a name for themselves on the gaming scene
If you want more information on this then purchase the November 2003 issue of PCGamer, pages 32 - 34.

DArtagnan - 6th place at the most important Counter-strike tournament in the world, attended 2 WCGs (now going for his 3rd)
KwaK/Luck1ng - 6th place at the most important Counter-strike tournament in the world, attended a WCG (now going for a second)
AnNuM - one of the players who took a map off Sweden in the Nation's cup, played for ui etc.
knoxville - 1st CPL Oslo, 8th CPL Summer, 9-12th CPL Winter, 2nd Clikarena and 1st Eurocup X (not sure which)
What have omg! got to even come close to that in terms of "proving it at the highest level"? omg! are a good team in terms of the UK but I-eS have obvious potential to do well on an international level if they apply themselves. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

But my main concern is that the big teams know if they were to take it up they'd get flamed and if they lost they'd get flamed anymore, so my thought is its the less well known teams trying to become apart of it. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
