4K Release Alienware PCs

Posted by NoToRiOuS at 22:28 17/3/2004.

Following their recent gain of Alienware sponsorship, 4Kings have now released their own line of Alienware PCs. There are two types of PCs on offer, one is a slightly cut down version with the other being top of the range high spec machine.

Without a shadow of a doubt Alienware use the best components and look damn good. However the only draw back I guess is the premium you have to pay for the best but as the old saying goes: "you get what you pay for".

Anyone with the right knowledge could make their own PC which atleast be equal to the 4kings Alienware PC, for about £1000. With better cooling for decent overclocking, which I cant afford, my PC would prolly out perform theres.

Anyway its f***ing CS, a voodoo 3 would run it better cos the engine is so old and s***.

Rip off, good for 4kings though. Some wannabe pro's with too much money will no doubt buy them. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

thats without a monitor for one that is cheap out of date slow ram.... The hd is also last year crap + the cpu is only a 3.2 and only a 32 bit processor *Sigh*

i could build that exact system for less than 1500 quid and i will do 2moz and post it on here :D Alienware think just because bright coloured sites and fancy logo's and cheap priced computers sell in america they might sell here ?? well we english "i hope" have more sense :> [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

well at least u can take the p*** out of anyone that buys one....

its a step in the right direction but it isnt going to work, simply too expensive, no ones going to pay an extra £1000 to get an alienware PC with a 4K logo on it, s***.... no one fvcking cares about 4K enough to blow £2.50 on them let alone £2,500

i wouldve gone into a different market area than top end super PC's seeing as the average gamer is 16-20 and doesnt have 2500 to spend on a PC.

Coloured logos and bright websites are called MARKETING.
its what makes people chose ALIENWARE over "n38 and alk0r computers LTD".
Its not that u can have a pc with 4k logo on it, but its a way for alienwware to show these pc's to people other than the ones who visit their site. Its an excellent example of why sponsoring clans pays off: no doubt "wanna be pro's will buy these rip off pc's", thinking that "if 4k use their pcs then that must give them skill, kinda like football pro wannabes wear nike boots. gj 4k and hopefully more and more sponsors will find good use for teams they sponsor :o [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

alkor, pc3200 ram is neither cheap nor out-of-date. You probably assume that pc3700, 4000, 4200 is newer right? well they are all just pc3200 memory chips that will run at faster speeds. The fastest "registered" speed u can get is pc3200, anything faster than that depends on how far the manufacturer thinks it will overclock.

that is why most of the best overclockers in the world will try and find pc3200 BH5 chips, like the Mushkin level 2, or some corsair XMS3200 LL. These chips will run crazy fast at low timings like 2-2-2-6.

just my 2 cents [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Right you are naz i wasnt expecting anyone on here to know a blind thing about hardware/overclocking :P But for all you know it could be twinMOS on that system and still with stock air cooling it would make more sense to be 4000/4200. i personally use Kingston KHX3200 at 2-2-2-6 and overclock for team cpu city :> which ive been doing for the last 3 months so yea my bad for slagging off 3200 as it has been the r0x for a time now.

P4EE ES @ 4505MHz (18x250), Abit IC7, KHX3200 2x256MB @ DDR500MHz 2-2-2-6, Hercules R9800XT @657/471, Antec TruePower 550W, Prometia mach 2

Anyway enough banter o/ [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
