I am delighted to announce details of UKT 6. As you know it's been a struggle to find a gaming centre that meets our satisfaction for running a tournament. Sadly our former home, the IT-Centre in Northampton, closed it's gaming side shortly after UKT 5.
UKT 6 will be held at The Hub in Hull on the 1st - 2nd May 2004. Again we will be running both an amateur and professional tournament with 16 places allocated to each. Both tournaments will be run in group stages with the top two teams from each group of 4 advancing to the single elimination quarter-finals.
The hub is an impressive a LAN centre as any you will find in the UK. With a setup that allows us to have two seperate gaming rooms, a spectator area and another quiet area for the teams that are not playing. The machines specifications are as follows: AMD XP 2400's with 512Mb RAM, equipped with 256mb NVidia Geforce FX Graphics cards, Optical Mice and Logitech Keyboards, 19" CRT Monitors.
We apologise for the location of this event and realise it may cause a few problems for some teams to get there, but it will be more than worthwhile. This event is scheduled for the beginning of May for several reasons. Firstly it gives both ourselves and The Hub enough time to prepare for such an event also I will be out of the country for 3 weeks from the end of March to Mid-April.
I would like to thank the staff of The Hub in advance for all the work they will undertake to ensure that this will be our most successful event thus far. Remember UKT 6 will be the last chance for teams to earn those all important points to qualify for the finals for a chance of winning cash/product prizes. The final should be a month or so after UKT 6.
The signup form for this competition wont go live until the end of this month, this will decrease the odds of teams signing up and then folding before the event begins. In the meantime I can confirm that we will be using CS 1.6 so don't fear 1.5 creeping into this event. More information about this competition including the map list will appear closer to the end of the month.
