As the title suggests this is the fifth tournament in the series and will be held on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September. There has been a slight change to the usual format of the lan, entry will now be limited to 16 teams who will play in four groups throughout Saturday. The top eight teams will progress to a double elimination knockout competition on Sunday.
<Dale Winton voice> Up for grabs is a total prize fund of over £1,000.</voice> The winners will receive £500 cash plus other prizes from their sponsors. Second place will receive £250 cash plus prizes, and the third place team will also receive £250 cash and prizes. I'm not sure how that works but I'm guessing that second place will get better sponsored prizes. I am also informed that all entrants will also receive a complementary WGR T-shirt and goodie bag.
The entry fee is £30 per person. To register send an e-mail n4@unicongaming.co.uk to apply for your clan's place.

16 Teams x 5 Players per team = 80 Players
£30 entry fee x 80 Players = £2400 Entry Fees
£2400 Entry Fees - £1000 Prize Fund = £1400 profit.
I suppose you can subtract some money they will be loosing of customers coming in, but I doubt its full all day Saturdays and Sundays.
Thats a tidy profit there, makes up for the quiet days.
Atemi the prices will drop before the event, so you'll get to go! :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

seems a bit steep looking again... £30 entry + £35 train + £70 for 2 night hotel (shared i spose) + £20 for food
all a little much =[ [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

£2400 - VAT@17.5% = £2042
£2042 - £1000 = £1042
£1042 - £240 (for FREE Tshirts and bags for 80 competitors) = £802
Having wiped £600 so called profit off already I won't bore you all with the full list of costs associated with the tournament but as you can see it is not as simple as Chris0 would like to believe.

UKTerrorist LANs were very very close to not breaking even at the end with all the costs over the 6 events. Costs for the general events in the UK will probably start going up as the quality goes up.
But as n4 has shown above there are costs, and with them being VAT registered as he's shown above, that's a large chunk without anything happening.
You have to remember that CPL charges 70$ a head, with nearly 1000 competitors.. only a matter of time before something decent comes to the UK.

10:26 31/8/2004 the goody bag should be an optional £10 on top of the entry fee of £20.
the point is they want you to have the goodie bag, it will have lots of "unicon" things in it to make you remember attending unicon. as they are a business they will do things like this as advertising. But £30 aint much, bit steep though considering the hotel is £17 a night [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Someone has to attempt to progress things and if charging £30 is what is required then that is what is required. If people don't support the event then the event will not be run in future. It's a simple as that.
£17 a night for a hotel isn't exactly bad either and as an added bonus it's not that far from Canal St!!! [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Solution.
1. Make the PC locked down with admin rights and s*** like that, u can do it on XP i know, its impossible at my work to f*** with anything.
2. Make the console f*** off, dunno how u do it but i know u can, just do it, gives everyone a piece of mind and its f***ing fair!!!!
3. Keep the pc's all the same, once again so its fair....
4. Lets get Adulki to go, id pay 30 quid to smash that little gremlins face into the coke machine outside...anyone else for that? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
