Narby aka Barney, one of the best mappers in the CS scene, already famous for maps like de_aztec, de_inferno, de_cpl_mill and de_cpl_fire, is working on a new map, de_aztec2, which is designed for competitive play and therefore might be introduced to competitions and LANs shortly after it's release.

As for the comments regarding CPU usage and FPS - Aztec and Aztec 2 are being worked on to address the problems. Aztec has been optimized (about 50 entites removed for server CPU) and a number of other changes including rain removal and a few other tweaks.
Apparently "not giving two s***s about the community until they whine about it" is evident in numerous appeals and polls to ask everyone what they'd like to be changed. Aztec and inferno have been revamped and bugs fixed for years - since they came out. For example, people said the thunder in aztec made thier fps drop slightly. We polled this and it was exactly 50/50 as to who wanted it removed (out of 4300 people). Please don't give me that crap about not caring about the fps of the player considering I've done more than most to address issues raised by the community, and will continue to do so. In all fairness I appreciate the effort that narby puts into his maps and they are easily amongst the best out there. Maps such as Inferno and Aztec have been through an incredible amount of changes all as a result of community feedback (or i assume it was, otherwise why not do it right the first time? :)).

Yeah, he makes some great maps, and he makes p***poor ones. He makes some great changes, and he makes some bulls*** ones. That's to be expected. But the holier than thou crap he'd give people who said, "Sorry Narby but all 5000 of us who have commented on how s*** a bright yellow lamp looks on aztec still cannot agree that it should be there just because they use it on real digs, this is a game...". Noah-, I'm referring to n@rby's attitude and SOME of the changes he made. His texture choices (bright dulux white walls in an aztec ruin? shows total ignorance of the difficulty to see xhairs in high resolutions on bright maps and is just downright ugly), items introduced (yellow lamps that were most definitely not welcome at any point on any forum I read), aspects of maps altered (moving spawns so that the overall change in spawn's is equivalent to 2 crates, that altered times it took to get to choke points by around a second; removal the gap between the crates at the bridge, supposedly done because "it wasn't meant to be there" originally - totally disregarding that it was a widely used and nice feature), his bulls***tery regarding those and plenty more features over in the csn comments.
I'm not saying everything he does is s***, inferno is my favourite map for both clan and public play, mill is a great clan map; but it doesn't negate what I said.
I am intrigued though n@rby, how long have you read ukt for? The odd browse and you come riding in to defend yourself soon as Beast0 says someone is badmouthing you? [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I'm still at a loss to find where your spite is eminating from. Please feel free to post those examples from CSN.
Also, what exactly is wrong with the yellow lights in your opinion? I'm not altogether clear as what your point is - you think they're unecessary for what reason? FPS? "realism"?
I certainly won't argue with your point about the textures being bright, but since then the CZ replacement textures are a little darker. Those screenshots also appear a little washed out.
You should also understand, I appreciate everyone is fully entitled to their opinion about anything they choose. I'm interested in know what your problem is with my "attitude". [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
