CAL Vote No To Female Division

Following on from all the recent debates over the integration of female gamers in the online gaming community, Frank Nuccio (CPL) has announced that the CAL leagues has decided to deny requests for a female-only division. Instead, he insists that there should be no division of the genders, with females able to compete in the current divisions; either via a female-only clan or as part of a mixed gender clan:
"After careful consideration CAL has concluded that this type of segregation does not advance the sport. In fact, CAL management believes that one of the greatest characteristics of online esports is its enlightened disregard of all incidental differences between gamers. By ignoring things like: age, race, nationality and gender the sport remains accessible to all. Therefore, at this time CAL rejects the concept of creating an entire online division for female gamers.
CAL instead finds value in the formation of female teams that want to compete against all opponents. While a team of this nature focuses on the gender differences, it would allow female gamers to obtain notoriety, while creating a unique support system for themselves. This should not be frowned upon, as the sport is currently dominated by male-only teams."

	Carb theb0g 13:55 11/2/2004	Well put CAL. Female gamers can play in mixed-gender teams or all-female teams but to make another division just for them would just be pathetic. Would there even be enough teams of all-girls to make a CAL league? I don't know what lead to the request or consideration of a Female only section of CAL, possibly the female gamers themselves feel they cannot compete (I don't know, this is just speculation) but to seperate males from females is a) not sticking to equal opportunities etc and b) stupid because of the format of the league (online, no real way of proving you're a girl-gamer). The number of people on here saying women are s*e at CS when they're not exactly god's gift to CS themselves is pathetic.
