UK/IE Cup: LAN Finals Seedings And Map Rotation

The UK/IE CS Cup, started its season with 136 accepted British and Irish CS teams in March. After three rounds of knock out qualifiers, a five week groupstage, and two playoff rounds, the way is clear for the LAN Finals.

Last night the seedings, maprotation and more info on the UK/IE Cup LAN Finals, which is to take place Sunday the 20th of June at the LITE centre in Macclesfield, was released.

One of the last eight teams, CAution!, was forced to withdraw as because of personal issues and hollidays four of its regulars would not be able to attend the event on the 20th of June.
The UK/IE Cup organisation then decided to replace uk CAution! by the 8th Finals team they thought deserved it most based on activity, ability and performance, ie suiGeneris, who were glad to take the spot and assured their attendance.

The map rotation for the event was chosen as follows:

  • Upper Bracket Round 1 - de_clan1_mill
  • Upper Bracket Round 2 - de_dust2
  • Lower Bracket Round 1 - de_dust2
  • Lower Bracket Round 2 - de_cbble
  • Lower Bracket Round 3 - de_nuke
  • Upper Bracket Final - de_nuke
  • Lower Bracket Final - de_train
  • Grand Final - de_inferno / ? (if LB Finalist wins inferno, UB Finalist picks 2nd map)
Assisted by four respected members of the community (Obsidian, Venom, Ripper and DK), the seedings for this double elimination tournament, and thereby the fixtures of the first round, were finalized as:

1. uk Four Kings
2. uk WOLF
3. uk Game2XS
4. uk twisted Reality
5. uk Choke
6. ie suiGeneris
7. uk SFAL
8. uk CNN

Furthermore it was announced that, besided the online coverage everyone is used of the UK/IE Cup, on site spectators will be welcome free of charge at the event, and will be able to follow the matches on one or two tvs, besides talking to players, admins, and enjoying themselves at local pubs, a snooker hall, gym, and lots of other stuff.

Teams are to contact the headadmins with their final team roster, contact and player details as soon as possible to smoothen up communication, registration and setting up at the event.

some seeders might have more focussed on team's lan experience, others on current form, while others on archievements in the past

Are there any prizes for the uk/ie cup?
Yes, several hardware/virtualware ones, such as gameserver+comms+bnc packages from 4u-servers, webhosting from spacehost, clan site design from des1gn, mousepads from Everglide, mice+pads from Euro-Tech, and actual throphies (cup + medals).

I am aware this might sound quite moderate, but man has to have in mind that its a first time event, unique in its kind in the UK, and we're looking to build on this regarding contacts with interested companies etc.

A succesfull first event would help a lot there regarding sponsors of course, something headorganisers from established UK lan series such as the UKT lans (yourselves), Landed, i-series, Gameon and WGR most probably will agree on :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

12:57 10/6/2004		 Nope sG didnt take our seed... we would have been seeded 7th if we could have made it thier! a very horrible seed imo considering our performance in both CSGN and UK/IE.
I really hate the way the UK is built on reputation, choke have been around so f*** it give them a decent seed even if they dont deserve it. Plus CNN a clan i dont like much but feel very sorry for them as they deserve a 6th seeding at least. And tR who havebeen knocked out more times than have played matches in this tourny!
