CSGN Premier Division

The CSGN league has announced its division placements for the upcoming Season 3. This season promises to be the best to date, with more organisation and better prizes. A total of 50 clans have been picked for this season, spread across 5 divisions; Premiership, Division1, Division2, Division3 and Division4.

The league is due to start the second week of January, Monday the 12th. The CSGN Season 2 cup will take place before this. Best of luck to all teams involved.

Update - I grabbed Obsidian for a quick Q&A.

What does CSGN promise on the organisation front for Season 3?

CSGN|Obsidian:: Set dates and time for all games on CSGN multiplay servers, providing the servers are good that is, but we have four of them.

Will this Season have any prizes, if so, what are they?

CSGN|Obsidian: Yes it definately will have prizes. These will be from a prize pool made up of websites, mousemats, clan server (hopefully) and i'm just about to send off emails and written letters to 3 large hardware companies and 1 PC magazine regarding CSGN which i think from preliminary talks, may prove succesful. Obviously not with all 4 companies though. During the 1st season we couldn't even get server sponsorship, the 2nd season we had people coming to us. As for the 3rd season, we think we are now old enough and have a large enough user base to be worth while to some of the larger companies. I cannot promise but i can hope.

With BWCSL now gone, the UK lacks a decent "p2p" league where you can actually win cash prizes. Can you forsee CSGN going "Pay 2 Play" in the future?

CSGN|Obsidian: No never - we hope to be able to offer "decent prizes" without ever having to become p2p. Karl and i both agree on this. It was my aim from the start never to be profit orientated or even p2p.

a) fold
B) Inactive

The Electronic Sports League made a very interesting annoucement today: they have decided to launch the European Nations Championship. The concept of the tournament is quite simple: 24 national teams will face each other in four groups and the eight best teams will then compete in the LAN finals for the prize money of 20.000 €.

The two games that will be played are Counter-Strike and Warcraft III: TFT. Each national team will be made of players selected by partners of the ESL in the country. The two tournaments will start in February 2004. The groups have already been made, and are "based on regions and connectivities for best possible pings".

16:29 22/12/2003		 ColdAsIce: Bit harsh, that’s your opinion. the teams in it are in it because most of them aren't c**ks (accept the pro gamer wannabes - probably at least 1 team in each division) who i'll just tell them to go if they cause trouble.

Usually division 4 is the best division for friendliness and games - as in, they play them. This is because these clans are in it because they genuinely want to be, which I think is the way it should be.
