ESL have launched a UK national league to add to their ever increasingly popular EU ladders which started last week. The Counter-Strike ladder is a standard 5v5 mr12 competition, with registration available to clans by clicking here. What is important to note is that the 'Electronic Sports League' as it is called is already quite big around the globe. The ESL is ran by Turtle Entertainment, who brought us CPL Cannes 2003, and has big sponsors such as Mountain Dew, ELSA, and Intel. Already they run a 'pro series' in Germany that is backed by Intel and has an 80,000 EURO prize pot. The competition is sure to be good so be sure to check it out.

There is a rule for that:
7.5.6.1. Rejection of challenges from teams ?nearby?
If both participants are situated in the Top 10 of their league, then every rejected challenge is penalised with 2 penalty points, no matter if the challenging team is positioned above or below the other team. This rule only goes for ladders with at least 30 participants within the ranking list.
Shown on http://www.esl-europe.net/uk/cs/5on5/mr12/ladder/rules/ :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

The same things goes with teams 20 places above the challenging team. (you: 180 // other one: 165 for example)
The penalty system is also @ the rules [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

At first you challenge an opponent, if he wants to play the given time by you he simply accept the match and it is open, if he disagree with the given time he can move the match to another date (to find a gamedate) or he'll cancel the challenge. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

You can set special wartimes so only these dates are available to the challenger and btw. if there is no match there won't be any defpoints :)
no match = no points *g* [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
