Just recently two new articles have appeared over at ESReality. One more controversial than the other. The first by, NoDnO, titled 'The times gone by in Counter-Strike', is no more than your /cstrike/readme.txt file copy and pasted and certainly not anything new or original. Perhaps it was decorated a little to come across as an article. When the game was released they said that this was it, there would be no more changes, not any major changes anyway. But they were too hasty with the release, and major changes have been done after this, and will still be in the future of Counter-Strike, but I think Goose said it best:Catch the rest here.“I make a mod that I am happy with and if someone else happens to like it, then that's a bonus.”
The second on the other hand, which I'm sure will spark a debate very soon (if there is any truth in said article), is titled 'Advancement Through Devolution'. This time the author seven claims to have gathered inside information with regards to a Counter-Strike update, which has been "dubiously" titled 'Counter-Strike Competition Mode 2.0b'.
Apparently this update has been long in the works. I was able to get my grubby little hands on this early list of changes through a friend at Gearbox who is helping with some of the mapping for the release.Certainly something this interesting wouldn't have slipped by? Also it confused me slightly when he made the claim that Gearbox were working on said release, even though now Valve have apparantly removed them from any further developments. I did say it was controversial...Weapon Updates:
The developers went all out with the weapons in competition mode, removing all but those listed below.
USP: Now has a slightly quicker reload time, as well as better jumping aim.
Glock: Everything is kept the same from the 1.6 update.
Desert Eagle: Quicker draw/reload times.
M4A1: Jumping recoil slightly increased, crouching and walking recoil slightly reduced.
AK-47: Jumping recoil slightly increased, crouching and walking recoil slightly reduced. Slightly more powerful.
AWM: There are multiple scope modes which can be set through the menu. There is default scope (four directional with notches), left-up (two directional [left and up] with notches), right-up (two directional [right and up] with notches), left-down and right-down, as well as up-down, left-up-down, right-up-down, right-down-up, right-left-up and right-left-down. There is also the single dot mode. Awp to pistol switch time has been increased.
MP5: Jumping accuracy with the MP5 has been largely increased, as well as running accuracy. Damage has been slightly reduced.
SG552: This weapon remains the same.
AUG: This weapon remains the same.
UPDATE: One of the comments is now claiming that the article is indeed fictional. I'll let you form your own opinion.

It should just make matches easier to admin.
If anyone played Tribes with BWadmin or the inbuilt match administration VGUI, they will know it was very easy with either. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Well CS is getting less realistic, and you can do all this in miliseconds. In real life takes 5 minutes to setup an AWP, on a tripod, lay down. Not running round bunny hopping and head shotting 10 people :) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
