Yesterday, the official ESWC 2004 website was launched, with information on the upcoming events this summer. National preliminaries in over 40 countries, including the UK, will be taking place over the next few months, in order to see who'll get the chance to win a spot in the event's LAN finals. The main events of interest to us are Counter-Strike, though there are Warcraft 3, PES 3, and Quake 3 competitions taking place. The national partner for the UK has still to be announced.
In terms of Counter-Strike, the main event is the usual five man format with a total prize fund of $100,000, broken down as follows:
1st - $40,000 5th - $4,000 2nd - $24,000 6th - $4,000 3rd - $12,000 7th - $4,000 4th - $8,000 8th - $4,000
In addition, they'll also be holding a female CS competition, with 16 invited teams and $20,000 up for grabs. Full event information is available over on the site.
