ESWC UK Qualifiers, ShaQ Mercs For 4K

The ESWC UK Qualifiers began yesterday with eight teams battling it out over two groups for that single qualification spot to the finals in Paris, France. Contrary to popular rumours ElemeNt did not make his 4K debut at this competition and will most likely not be seen in action for the team until World eSports Games 2. To fill the void 4K have drafted in former member, Paul "ShaQ" Shackleton.

ShaQ attended the 2003 ESWC Finals with 4K after they won the UKT 3 qualifiers in Northampton. Four-Kings competed admirably at that event taking a respectable fifth position, but ShaQ joined up with OMG! shortly after.

Yesterday the group stages of the qualifiers were completed with the results as follows:

The results mean that 4K and Landed.cs advanced from Group A in 1st and 2nd positions respectively, as do H5 and enx.Upper Bracket Round 1

Four-Kings defeated Landed.cs in a relatively close final on de_cbble to win the UK ESWC qualifiers. The result means that the 4K line-up of Mangiacapra, ShaQ, Red, Goodfella and Akujii will be competing in the ESWC Finals held at the Louvré in Paris, France from the 6th - 10th July. This will be Four-Kings Intel's second appearance after failing to qualify for the competition last year. No doubt they will be looking to equal, or better, their 5th place outcome in 2003.

Update: According to popular rumour ShaQ will not be attending the finals with 4K and instead ElemeNt will take his place.

LAN's are like a snapshot of a team's ability at the time, not their potential ability. So how good you can perform at that one LAN event at that one moment is how good the team is at the time. When people say "well we didn't have time to practice", so what? Say a fairly decent team with no practice draws a ag ame against a lower-tier team who have locked themselves away in an internet cafe somewhere practicing for the last month. Both teams, are now as equally as good as eachother. Because that's their skill level at that point in time. Thought last years venue was alot better though esp with regards to food/drink. Would be more interesting for everyone, including ourselves, if there were teams that could at least give us a challenge. I dont mean that in an arrogant way more, say a few years ago there was lots of competition and well now there is little to well none whatsoever. We practice and play cs very little, probably a lot less than most would like to believe. Anyone who watched us play would be able to tell that we were just doing whatever we wanted :D Our swedish continguents are very good granted and may play more, but im a strong believer in "on any given sunday" if a team is good enough practice or not then they can win :o)) But i also fully agree that uk cs along with european has taken a big turn for the worse or maybe the better depending on how you look at it :)) [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]

LAN's are like a snapshot of a team's ability at the time, not their potential ability. So how good you can perform at that one LAN event at that one moment is how good the team is at the time. When people say "well we didn't have time to practice", so what? Say a fairly decent team with no practice draws a ag ame against a lower-tier team who have locked themselves away in an internet cafe somewhere practicing for the last month. Both teams, are now as equally as good as eachother. Because that's their skill level at that point in time. Thought last years venue was alot better though esp with regards to food/drink. 	akujii0r Infinity-eSports 18:09 31/5/2005	well! :D was the most boring event ive ever attended after WCG 2004 and we were disappointed at the lack of competition. Would be more interesting for everyone, including ourselves, if there were teams that could at least give us a challenge. I dont mean that in an arrogant way more, say a few years ago there was lots of competition and well now there is little to well none whatsoever. We practice and play cs very little, probably a lot less than most would like to believe. Anyone who watched us play would be able to tell that we were just doing whatever we wanted :D Our swedish continguents are very good granted and may play more, but im a strong believer in "on any given sunday" if a team is good enough practice or not then they can win :o)) But i also fully agree that uk cs along with european has taken a big turn for the worse or maybe the better depending on how you look at it :)) [ Comment: Report \| IP: Logged ]
