4 Years In Gaming

Posted by Myers at 18:35 18/7/2005.

Stuart Harriman is a player that should need no introduction. So here it is:

In 2002 Stu was a member of the Uninspired line-up which handed 4K their first LAN defeat in 6 months. A few weeks later he was recruited to replace long-serving 4K member Oppie in the UK-based team. For the next couple of years he competed at the highest echelons of gaming across many countries. Brazil, Spain, China, South-Korea, USA. At times he was paid a salary and at times not. A few weeks ago Stu Harriman announced he was going inactive from 4K and was replaced by Ola "Element" Moum.

It is rumoured that there were frequent conflicts between the players and the management of 4k (zommy/protex) could you go into more details on this and your thoughts on their actions?
Stu Harriman - Well, there were a few differences of opinion, not so much with Tobe, apart from his inability to pick up a phone at times, hes always been more than helpful and got things sorted when they were needed. Protex i'm not really sure about, he seems to take it all a touch more seriously than a load of kids playing computer games needs to be, but each to their own i guess.

When was the last time you properly practiced CS, as in, played on public servers and took part in pcws/mix games outside of bootcamps/tournaments?
Stu Harriman - Well I play from time to time but not really on my own pc, so I dont count it as practise. So i'd have to say, during the time in Stockholm and then in Korea for WEG. But I play just as much know as I always have when at home, which admitedly is very little.

Since you began playing for 4K you've witnessed some 20 players pass through the team, which line-up did you feel you had the most fun with and which players do you most miss?
Stu Harriman - Well, I guess when it was the long-standing 4K lineup when i first joined, and they were named "Infinity-eSports", with Doug, Marc, Danfrag, Greg and PB. Not that anythings wrong with the new players, just not quite as attached just yet.

Cruise over to my interview with former 4K member Stuart Harriman as he talks about 4 years in gaming.

Decent salary games careers.... long way off in this country it still seems.

its a nice ideal getting paid to play a game whilst your still young, nothing wrong with it at all, but as you get older you realise its not going to get you a house/car/pay the bills.

i see clamjuice has re-appeared!
