Yesterday evening Craig Levine, manager of America's most famous side, Team3D announced a new lead sponsor in the form of Hewlett Packard. A statement can be found on the Team3D website.
HP is proud to announce that it will serve as a lead sponsor for Team 3D. These champion gamers compete in key gaming competitions around the globe and are equipped with Compaq X gaming PCs for training on and off the road.
Team3D is among the best professional gaming teams in the world. Hailed as the top "Counter-Strike" and “Call of Duty” team in North America, Team 3D's track record has netted them title wins from the world's premiere gaming leagues.
“HP is thrilled to support Team 3D with this sponsorship opportunity,” said Tom Markworth, Product Marketing Manager, North America Consumer Computing, HP. “We look forward to a long term relationship that will give further credibility to the sport of professional gaming.”
HP/Compaq therefore join the ranks of Nvidia, Subway, Icemat and GameDaemons as official Team3D sponsors. One has to wonder though how much further Craig can take the team considering their decline in form since their silver medal performance at the World Cyber Games. This summer's CPL will be crucial for the side if they wish to retain the recognition of America's most significant gaming team.

But how much longer will 3D be a "big" team, it wouldnt have been so bad if theyd have qualified for ESWC....or even won anything at all actualy. If they dont start pulling off results people are going to start forgetting them then they no longer become marketable to sponsors.
They could always just fire all of the CS team (their salaried right?) and bring in new players to keep the "3D" name going, but i think should wait and see what happens at the CPL, if they bomb out of that too then their in trouble ;) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Good marketing for them even if 3D do play s*** at CPL HP/Compaq will still gain an advantage because of the uproar it will cause. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

They also own compaq, they bought them out.
Lets hope if they do get anything out of HP they get better than their usual service if anything goes wrong, because HP customer relations are f***ing awful.
Good news for CS and online gaming in general, helps bring it further and further into the spotlight. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
