Many will recall problems between iGUK and Valve/Steam over licensing issues which eventually led to iGUK centres boycotting the software. Today it was announced that there has been a breakthrough in negotiations leading to an IGUK Official Valve CS Source League beginning in September.
Starting in September IGUK are to run their first Counter-Strike League between participating gaming centres, for over a year. This league follows a break-through in negotiations with Valve that have provided IGUK Gaming Centres the ability to now install a legal version of Steam in their venues. The version we will be using is the new Counter-Strike Source game that was released to participating IGUK gaming centres today. Get down to your nearest IGUK centre and try out this amazing game now! The league will run from September until early November and will include prizes that will be announced at the start of the league.
As a result the majority of iGUK centres nationwide will receive Counter-Strike Source a month or so before we get to play, if you wish to give it a go, then you can try the following locations:
Bifflan - Banbury, GameTheWorld - Bangor, Virtual Realm - Bath, Ozzi's Online Gaming - Batley, GlobalGamingArena - Birmingham, Surf 'N' Play, The LAN Rooms - Bristol, Cyber Emporium - Buxton, Matrix - Chester, Lansport - Derby, Netplay - Eastbourne, Code Red - Essex, Squeex - Halesowen, Cyberscene - Essex, Harrow Arena - Harrow, Web Frenzy - Hastings, Cybernet - Huddersfield, The Hub - Hull, LGI - Ipswich, Games Genius - Kent, And So It Begins, High Score - London, Cyberience - Manchester, Psisoft Games - Nailsworth, WKD Computers - Newcastle, E-Quest - Newport, Battlenet - Norwich, Lantasia - Rotherham, Gamecentre2 - Scarborough, The Hangout - Sheffield, StarBytes - Southampton, Rogues Asylum - Southend, Cyber Centre - Southend-on-sea, Xcession - Stevenage, Wired Inn - Swindon, Cobwebs - Weymouth, Cyber Realm - Wickford, Console Computers - Wirral, Quarks - Wokingham and Landen - Worcester.
You can reference the full centre addresses here. No excuse now for not giving CS:Source a go at least once before it comes out for the rest of us.

Charging for a game you have already purchased a license key for is a joke. If they want to charge for steam, they should release it as software, not freeware, and make people buy the actual program, instead of abusing there monopoly.
Fair enough make money from a game they have spent years maintaining, but do it properly instead of taking the shortcut. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

The charge that came in was probably a bit steep however but this is a totally new thing with a totally different game.
Sounds good, i'll go along to cgz sometime this week and try it out when its up and running. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
