Over on Four-Kings.com they've uploaded a new article that takes a look at the upcoming Intel Masters. The article is in Q&A format and answer pretty much all you'll need to know about the event, which takes place on 21st December at the London Science Museum. Here's a snippet:What plans for spectators do you have?Check out the rest of the Q&A, or the official site. Thanks to TeppuM for the heads up.
We have 6 hourly shows throughout the day starting at 11am. Tickets to these shows are free and available on the day at the Science Museum or in advance through the Christmas issue of PC Gamer. We've got numerous competitions going on with great prizes to make the public feel really involved.Does Intel plan on paying travel and accommodation expenses? If so to what extent, and what about foreign players?
Intel will not pay travel or accommodation expenses for any of the teams, however entrance to the tournament is free to the invited clans. Foreign players are allowed as long as the clans are UK based, after all Manchester United is an English team, but they have some foreign players.

7 MR12 matches in 6 hours can't be too hard to fit in on LAN, depending on the size of the gaming area # of pc's etc they should be able to make it double elim mr12 [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

the excitement of watching the same s*** map over and over for how many games and how a s*** map can turn cs into a load of boring crap with little skill/fun and entice many new players to play the game even though they'll a) never even play that map even if they do like it because its not in the cs download and its too crap for people to WANT on thier servers and b) they'll be mesmorised at how completely boring and unskillful the map makes cs
lol no matter where it was hosted with those maps and such a fun mr7 tourney it'll be worthy of a lot of NEGATIVE mass attention and that's about it [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

theyre not coming for the tournament, competition, or lan practice like everyone does cpl/wcg and other more local lans, it'll be purely because of the amount of money, if it was like the same as cpl qualis with only the winning clan getting like a £100worth prize each then i doubt people would still go at all [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

so, you want to attract people to the game by making them watch a map that a) wont even be in cs if they buy it and b) theyre not there to see (they want to go to watch cs at its best with the best teams, not to have a guided tour around the museum in 3d with a few guns going off here and there) c) is a 1 off map anyway, so they'll more than likely never see the map again in an online server or another competition so lose the relation completely after this 1 tournament d) is prolly the most boring map ever and DEFINATELY a hella lot more boring than any official maps
u're also losing half of what "pro" cs should be about, planned out and practiced tactics, months of working on teamwork, ages of developing strategical tricks on familiar maps, people knowing exactly what they're doing instead of running around a map like a headless chicken (and a £5er says that'll happen enough times if the bomb is ever planted on this map - taking out the essence of being able to fight back once the bomb is down less tension garuanteed win once the bomb is down and a lot more boring to watch)
ure calling the event the "uk masters" or whatever, yet what ure actually doing is taking away 90% of what these teams play cs for and practice at high levels for. people who play top level cs say that aim counts for like 10-15% of the game at that level and the rest is down to teamplay/tactics/strategies/map tricks, well those are out the window so what next
yes u could practice the map for 2 weeks.... but the map isnt even finished when it was meant to be 3 days ago, especially when the mapper is changing spawn locations and bomb sites i mean those are the 2 most crucial parts to a map's tactics.
and back to the map... how f***ing easy will it be for a last man to just camp... just about ANYWHERE on the map and never be found, u think thats gonna make for exciting watching?
the map is just the satan spawn of anywhere near pro-level cs, so what the f*** are intel actually trying to show people about pro-gaming when they're stripping it of everything it's worth. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Nice one Intel! You've taken a potentially great LAN tourney and turned it into a complete farce.
They might as well have decided to play All Rounds Count 7v7 on cs_siege. With the rules they've chosen they've managed to rip out everything good about cs. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Is FIFA going to have like a 5-a-side kickabout on a custom pitch set inside a museum ?
If it's just CS that's getting this custom game s*** then I agree on teams boycotting the tourney ... someone raised a good point ... are I-es going to be allowed to wear their AMD sponsored T-shirts ... oooh handbags. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Its just not fun for the spectators. You cant even eco really after losing the pistol round. MR12 is bad enough as it is, cuz when u lose both pistols u have lost 6 rounds already...
IMO i believe a MR15 system would be a lot better. And i think CPL should follow me ^_^ [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Sadly, this means we didn't get any follow up questions in order to get answers we actually want.
'What is the maplist?'
followed by
'What is the tourney layout, i.e. Each round best of 3, over 2 maps, mr12 ?'
Whats wrong with following up with 'Why have you chosen to use this instead of the standard Counterstrike maps?' before going onto tournament structure?
Might as well be a bloody press release, but after spending last week doing my Journalism course on the subject of interview techniques, then seeing this, I'm less than impressed. I realise it doesn't claim to be an interview, but it tries to give the impression of one, and I'm gonna shut up know cos I am going on and on and on about nothing... [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
