TSG manager Duck (not to be confused with the TAG version) has been interviewed by Pantheon ES. The interview gives us another look into the management side of Professional CS, a side not often thought about by most of us. It's a decent read and well worth checking out. Full interview.

[Pantheon]: Professional eSports are a bit of a new phenomenon. How do you think the scene will change over the next 5 years? Do you see CS being played still? Do you think that the prize money of events will continue to rise or do you think there will be an equalizing stage, similar to the dot com era, where we overshoot the commercial viability of eSports and come back to a more respectable level?

[tsg`duck]: Esports is popular outside America. It's popular in China and Korea and becoming that way in Europe. America will be the last to catch on, if ever, as most of the gamers in America are younger in contrast to those over seas. CS 2 or CS Source will define the rest of the event although I do see a good 2 more years of $100,000 purse tournaments. The fans are still here and it could be that they follow the players themselves and that could be the key to the success of this sport. We have a very loyal community, most of the time, well so long as our game is left the same.

Q: Being an old-school player as you are. How do you feel the scene has developed over the last 2 years?

A: The last two years have been interesting at least in my eyes, the top player segment has grown, and we now have a lot of teams that could be considered to be among the best. Two years ago the story was quite different. You had maybe three or four teams that could perform. This ends up in a lot of more interesting matches for the community to watch. Now it’s much more about team play and tactics, since most players are extremely good at aiming. The scene has grown, not only on the pro-gaming side; a lot of immature and younger people have also surfaced.

mousesports: Years ago we heard rumours that the CPL plans to build a gaming-stadium. Are these plans nowadays still in mind or is it just not the time for gaming all over the globe to get located in own stadiums ?

Angel Munoz: Those rumors were true. We had an entire business plan developed - with the help of John Romero (Chairman of CPL’s Advisory Board) – to build a large venue for our events but decided not to pursue this project. The basic reason was our belief that companies are much more efficient when they concentrate on their core business. The CPL’s goal is to spearhead the sport of competitive gaming and running an entire venue year round would be fatiguing and expensive.
