JapLAN Changes Venue And Setup

News has reached my ears regarding the new setup in the works for the japLAN serioues, the previous events of which have been hosted at the Unicon centre in Manchester.

The events are now to be held at the L-I-T-E centre in Macclesfield, around 20 minutes away from the original Unicon centre. The format is also to be changed, with the events following a points mean prizes format as opposed to the one off tournament system employed before.

The tournaments will be held as a series, with points being awarded for wins at each event. This new system will allow 10 teams to play on the day, with their PC's being exclusive to them for the entire duration of the competition. With the increase in events, the entry fees can be reduced, however prizes for the individual events will be smaller than previously allowing the organisers to amass a greater final prize for the eventual winners.

The event will also be run by Loxam, formerly of Unicon, who is now heading up the online community operations side of L-I-T-E.

	unicon 18:52 15/2/2004	UniCon have always had a great relationship with LITE, with them being our neighbours and partners for the E-Sports LAN we were going to hold in the summer. It's a great venue and the PCs are just about the same specs as UniCon and spaced evenly and roomily. The chill-out area for the consoles, especially, is great with a 50" widescreen TV!
