LANNation cancelled; Landed Cup Postponed

We recently posted about an ambitious looking UK LAN event to be held in Coventry, called LAN-Nation. The event was to comprise all of the major UK LAN centres, alongside others, as well as large software and hardware vendors. The scale of the project looked huge, with "chill out" areas where the CPL feeds would be live from the US, as well as Virtual Reality booths. Couple this with the addition of the LAN finals for the Landed Lan CS Cup, and there was the opportunity for a potentially huge event in the UK LAN diary.

Which means it's even more of a shame to announce it wont happen. All the cynics out there will fail to be surprised and won't even bat an eyelid as they sip their cappucino, but I have to confess to being a little disappointed. Here's a small snippet from the official statement on the LAN-Nation page.

We were severely mislead by the venue regarding the facilities available, and it appears they were withholding information regarding the event structure. We have just discovered this, and sadly we have had to terminate our business with the venue.

With regards to the Landed LAN CS Cup, the boys over at Landed had this to say:

Following the cancellation of LANNation, we will be making some fine adjustments to the planned events. Landed LAN 8 will take place over the summer and will feature Landed's first Call Of Duty Tournament.
Landed LAN 9 will take place (hopefully) at the end of September. The Landed Gaming UK CS LAN Cup finals will be held at Landed LAN 9.

I think the organisers of e-Fest messed the LANNation orgs around, promises not met and deadlines getting closer and quite rightly they pulled the plug. As for where it leaves Landed LAN 8, that'll be a 300 player event (hopefully) early Summer to replace the LANNation event. 	polaris church 20:00 22/5/2004	Well, it depends what parts you visit. Stivichall and the areas around there are pretty nice. Kenilworth road etc, some houses going up there for f***ing millions.
