Newly appointed CPL League comissioner Justin Blanchard has adjusted several of the rules for the CPL this Winter. Amongst them are the following:
3.00b Online registration is required to compete in the $100,000 Counter-Strike Tournament. Registration must be completed in advance to the tournament, on or before November 15, 2004, or while spots are available. Players who register on-site who have not registered online by December 1, 2004 are only eligible to be an event spectator.4.00a The $100,000 Counter-Strike Tournament will consist of a maximum of 64 pre-registered teams.
4.10d Team members may communicate verbally if they have not been eliminated in the game or if all team members have not been eliminated. When a player has been eliminated, he or she must not speak after his death. This is identified as the point when the screen has gone fully to fade-to-black. Any team who speaks after the screen has faded to black will be issued one warning. A second offense will result in forfeiture of the match.
7.00j If a competitor’s computer crashes before three rounds of the half have been completed, the match will be restarted. If a competitor’s computer crashes after three rounds of the half has been completed, the server will be paused at the conclusion of the present round once notification has been sent to the opposing team and tournament officials. Once the competitor has rejoined the server and teams are notified, play will resume.
9.00k Any competitor or team accidentally utilizing ANY exploit or bug in a map or game will forfeit that round and all remaining rounds for the half. Players need to be responsible for their actions in regards to know map or game bugs/exploits.
Generally the rules have made registration and punctuality of the team much more stricter, feel free to read the complete list of changes. Let hope these rules lead to a far more successful CPL tournament, rather than teams being disqualified for any transport situations beyond their control.
9.00f Any protests or disagreements with tournament rulings must be made directly to the Tournament Director or League Commissioner in a reasonable manner at the time of the incident, at which time a prompt decision will be made. Disputes must be filed before leaving the tournament area. The commissioner’s decisions are final.
