New Aztec for CS 1.6

Bit late with this news but Narby has released some info and some screenshots of the new revamped aztec. Here's a little peek of the new bridge:

I've had the pleasure of play-testing this map and in the beta I played I can't say I like or dislike it any more than the old aztec. The map seems a lot brighter and in many areas, such as the double doors, far bulkier. The bridge is now far more, with it being wooden slats instead of rope bridge. The bridge rooms opposite each other are both far narrower, making this an awp controlled zone.

For fps, the map is similar to the previous aztec, unkind on lower spec machines. For clan games, the map is far more spaced out, the doors are further apart, the gaps are bigger. However if the intention was to make terrorist side any easier I think Narby's fluffed it. Once a CT is in position at the dd, it is far easier to take out the first guy who rushes.

Anyway, just a taster.

i get way more fps on this version, especially just as u go thru dd, usually drops my fps loads doing that, so i prefer it :P

deean u obviously dont know nething about this map, theyve made it easier to the terrorists by moving the T spawn further up, meaning it will be easier for the terrors to get to the choke points before the cts, making it less of a ct dominated map. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Sounds to me like it would have been a good addition had CO rules still been around, but for MR most ppl tend to wait to pick a few off and move in slowly.

The doors were flipped accidently and are now (as of the version which you have a screenshot posted) back to normal, so it's not easier for any team like the mini-preview in the news post suggests.

In addition, there are two factual errors. No rooms have been narrowed and doors have not been modified.

For some reason instead of posting the news I sent you, you have taken a screenshot given to CS-Nation and then spread a bunch of misinformation. I really don't know why you just didn't link to CSN, but it's your choice I guess.

If you want the real lowdown on de_aztec's changes coming in CS 1.6, please do yourself a favor: old images and most changes - new images and minor updates since the first link. The info/images come straight from narby. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

deean I don't know if you're new or not, so maybe you're just picking up things. I don't mean to be hard on you, I just don't see the logical reason for not allowing people to see more screenshots or get more information; not like it hurts you or the site. Keep up the good work, though.

There was never any official beta test other than that of CSN and myself. De_aztec_c is part of the test map that was leaked and contains a variety of ``errors'' that do, in no way, reflect the final build of the map.

Greedy, selfish and impatient people spread the map around claiming it's finality and stir up bad press on an unfinished product that was never destined to be on public view that early.

Nothing has changed in terms of timing or dimesnsions. This is a CAL map and the fact the timing has not been altered reflects this. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
