The tradition Pre-CPL $10,000 EverLan took place over the weekend with some of North America's finest teams travelling to Colorado Springs to compete.
The format for the event was single elimination, best of three maps. On top form in the group stages were Norwegian/American hybrids NoA who topped their group winning 4/4. In group 2 Nerve pipped 3D to the top spot despite losing to America's most famous side. TEC provided the first upset when they defeated Team3D in overtime. Finally in group 3 Canadian lineup Evil Geniuses defeated u5 in overtime to finish first with u5 settling for 2nd place.
In the playoffs NoA advanced to the Semi-finals despite dropping a map to TEC. U5 joined them following their 2 map victory over 3D. In the lower half of the bracket nerve defeated GameWyze two maps to none and Evil Geniuses set up the all-Canadian semi-final with a 2 - 0 victory over Meepins.
NoA again dropped a map in the semi-final but advanced into the final with a 2 - 1 victory over U5 whilst EG defeated local rivals Nerve 2 - 0 for the last remaining final place.
NoA comfortable defeated EG in the final 13 - 2, 13 - 3 to win the $10,000 first place prize. United5 took 3rd and Nerve had to settle for fourth. This will be the last major American LAN event before CPL Summer and for some teams will provide a great deal of encourage, whilst former champions Team3D must raise their game considerably if they want anything resembling a respectable position amongst the top sides from Europe, North and South America this summer.

was a very exciting one to watch that. Also there's a load of controversy surrounding the EverLAN rules and how NoA took advantage of them. Apparently NoA were consistently flashing under the box in ramp room on nuke and abusing that bug, u5 complained about it assuming it was against the rules, but as the rules state it only applies if the flash is intentional then NoA got away with it. It happened 3 times in that match, and TEC (who having played a whole s***load of rounds with NoA should know) also said it was happening. shaGuar even said "I wouldn't even know how to flash under the box", which from the guy who wrote an 8 page essay on the CS money system for school, and got Valve to actually make changes seems to be a bit off -_-. the illegal flash happened 3 times just against u5, f*** knows how many times it happened against TEC when they played twice as many rounds. make your minds up if it's intentional or not -_- [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

'yeh...erm my finger slipped and the flash landed under the box' or 'i was trying to rebound a fb off the box, its just coincedence it landed in that place' or (the excuse shaguer has opted for) 'what box? there's a bug? wow didnt know that' [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
