SK Squad Members Sign Contracts

Posted by arsen at 18:34 1/2/2003.

Top euro clan, Schroet Kommando, have finally managed to tie all 6 members to the squad with contracts. Their manager, bds, believes he has found the best squad possible in Potti, HeatoN, brunk, fisker and ahl. Their contracts run from 1st February, through to October 2003.

So what does this mean? Well, the members can now be sure of stability within the squad which will allow them to concentrate even more on teamwork and learning each others styles. You can read what bds had to say over on the Schroet site.

Obviously not iron but without ANY ruling body I cant really see how this can be inforced, the CPL was about the best I can think of. To set up proper legal contracts would have cost a couple of quid if thats wot they did. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Intel pay a monthly salary, therefore, breaking the contract will mean no more monthly salary, and no share of the prize money, i assume they could make it so that they just store all their prize money and share it out at the end of the contracts, so anyone who breaks it wont get any.. A contract is a legal and binding document. Im sure someone in to all that mumbojumbo could tell you the procedure you go through when someone breaks its terms. Im sure that will be useful info for some of the ppl on here who will have restraining orders placed on them in the future. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

At the end of the day, players in SK who break their contracts arent going to be taken to court, even though its possible, the only way its gonna be done is by salary and prize money, just like every other CS clan contract has been like in the past.. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

How is a contract not worth the paper it's written on? I assume the contracts are setup to work the same way a football contract works. The terms are to be followed and if broken you'll be removed and replaced, or if the envolvement of money, more than likely taken to court, so how is it worth nothing? I wish I could get out of some of my contracts easily :/ Depending on the clauses involved when signing contracts they are worth an extreme amount of money, despite what paper they are printed on. Just check out what it costs various pop stars to buy out of theirs! George Michael for instance and his contract with Sony, millions of dollars.

Not saying that the SK contracts are worth as much but they aim to achieve the same. Contracts bind those that have signed to the agreements they signed up for. Any

It's easy to write up a contract in principal but very difficult to write one that stands up legally if the advice of a legal representative is not sort at the time of drafting the contract. If they are legally binding then they are worth all the paper they are printed on. If they are some collection of text jumbled together in the heat of the moment then they are probably worth the paper they are printed on, which is very little.

I suspect SK and BDS when the whole-hog and sort the advice of their respective legal representatives.

That's my 50 pence worth! :D

Even in real life work contracts are hardly worth anything. A large number of the people I work with manage to work the entire length of their contract without ever signing it in the first place. The point of a contract is more to detail what is expected of both parties during the term of the contract than to bind a player/employee to their company. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Yeh but just because they haven't signed it doesn't mean they are not bound to its terms. People who dont sign a contract but abide by the terms of it for a certain number of time can be bound because it is acceptance by conduct. If you got a contract which you kept in a draw and worked under its terms for a year you will more than likely be bound.

Oh and btw, no one has to give any money for a contract to be binding. SK could of just given each other a contract and some sort of consideration (ie. an item of some financial worth). It can be a peppercorn! doesn't matter, a contract is a contract, it can be verbal or written and be on a scrap of tissue paper that has been gliding over Heaton's arse crack [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

If you ask me, this contract was done mostly for publicity (which worked, the news is on all major sites). BDS just probably pm'd a contract in irc, and said '----- Ok, now type your name Under this -----'

I seriously doubt this is a proper legal contract, and I doubt the money is going to be 'saved up then handed out at the end' [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

It will be a legally binding contract, as it is to do with the involvement of money, Intel will be paying the contracted players a monthly salary, and theyll be something to do with prize money too. Intel being a multi-billion dollar corporation arent just going to get people to type their names on IRC, think about it. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

dont think they need publicity on websites, wouldnt really affect them.

Some UK clans have/have had legal contracts, aint anything surprising and whoever said contracts mean nothing in the "real" world is an idiot [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]
