Surprise CPL Recruit

In a surprising turn of events the CPL believes that sending news about the recruitment of a new Online Commerce Director to every newsposter in Europe would actually ensure it would be posted on the top gaming websites.

Yes, yet another addition has been made to ever-increasing CPL family, this time the CPL have grappled their claws around Matthew Jones as their Online Commerce Director.

In May 2004 the Cyberathlete Professional League started expanding the executive staff of the organization. Commencing with Scott Valencia, former executive director of CompUSA's national gaming division, and now Operations Director of CPL. Followed by Joseph Ahn, former co-founder and Vice President of WCG North America, and now CPL's Business Development Director. The league also assigned Justin Blanchard as Commissioner; and Tom Gardner as Managing Director of its wholly-owned subsidiary the Cyberathlete Amateur League.

Today, the CPL announced the appointment of Matthew Jones as Online Commerce Director to help manage the league's growing Internet-based transactions efficiently and securely.

Matthew Jones has spent the last decade designing and implementing secure Internet applications. Matthew was one of the original founders of the Go Network, a collection of community content sites sold to Walt Disney in 1997. Matthew also founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of NetFire.com, an Internet Service Provider recently acquired by Speakeasy. Over the years he has developed and provided secure Internet solutions for Pharmacia, Novell, Mack Trucks, Oracle, Whirlpool, and Ritz-Carlton. Matthew currently serves as Chief Technology Officer for iTransact, Inc, a financial services company specializing in secure Internet-based payment technologies. He holds a BS in Business Management from UVSC.

The far-reaching consequence of this recruitment should be obvious. The lack of other news today forced me to post it out of desperation. This in turn led to you losing 45 seconds of your life by reading it. Read the official statement if you wish to waste another 45 seconds.

11:09 16/9/2004		 well id rather read what you call "crappy" uk news such as coverage of lans, example wgr5 is a reasonably large-ish uk lan but isnt covered, CSGN results were covered for about 2 weeks last season and i doubt EDIL will be covered, but there is still time found to post the CAL-i results each week it seems. Maybe its only me but id much rather read uk league results than american :(

Also by covering lets say the movement of a well known player from one clan to another ignites a damn good comments section usually with sensible arguments and then downright immature flaming (which can be fun) all these foreign posts just get a "gl whoever" when the person has never spoken to any of them in their life.
