Well a very eventful night in TheXGC PromoLeague with a number of incidents worth reporting.
Firstly the results from Week 2:1 looked like this:
UniCon had the night off after earlier in the evening Lastchance unfortunatly decided to drop from the league.
nocturne took a beating from Landed which started 30 minutes later than scheduled, and with their eventual 5th having "no sound and m". Straight after the game m0rph was apparently "kicked", presumably for not turning up for the game, only for this decision to be reversed moments later.
This is what Rhyzz had to say regarding the matter:
"We still have a few problems to sort out, but they played well. GG and gl to them"
Next up saw what was definitely the most tense and exciting game of the night. SCEE and coX both went into the game looking for their first wins, and neither found it. But judging from the scorebot the match had it all, eco round wins, TK's and serious "clutch" play to win rounds.
Last up saw NoNeed and noLimit battle it out which eventually ended in another victory for noLimit who continue their impressive start to the season.
Finally the decision on whether to replace Lastchance is in discussion and should a replacement team be annouced, then it will be within the next couple of days.

Main reason is we aint enjoying cs atm, we never really prepare any tacs. Just play pcws and enjoy the game, but as seaweeds column shows. The game is full of s*** and I admire him showing what I think is a majority of players using to get an advantage online. Look at CSGN impose this screeny anti cheat thing. Then you have dodgy clans and players NOT uploading!?!
So why bother i sour thinking atm. Even the leagues aint clean. We have hacking anf configging still as large as ever! Least back in the zetor days, everyone was DL'ing ppl cfgs. I was more even balanced then. Now the respectable players/clans trying to use set rates/cfg to keep it even as if it was LAN, and the little pricks are cfging it up!
Without a doubt CS is at a point where in the UK it can take a step forward and several clans progress and start to tackle the euros. These little p*** ant cfg'ers and hackers just holding it back in their need to be wannabe pro's Instead of just taking it naturally and gettng better. Kids these days want everyting yesterday!
f***ing game needs an age limit!!
rant away Paul, not like you have any dignity in UK CS scene anyway. May aswell make yourself feel better :D [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

i don't like seeing my clan mates (and myself) SO wound up about how much of a waste of time CS is... and on the verge of giving up because, either we're getting s*** and getting dicked on... or little kiddy clans are wasting our time by cheating against us. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

Although the cal-draft thing fell on its arse, i thought it was a nice chance for unsung players to play with decent players and show what they can do.
To illustrate my point - we had a kid in THX who was amazing online and then went to LAN (i17 i think) and was equally brilliant irl.
Because he was playing with us old codgers with reactions dulled to the pace of a particularly dopey sloth we did bugger all in tournaments (online and LAN) so he never even got noticed.
I think there is a very real need for an 'adopt a kid' week where some of you old hands could take a look at some of the youngsters - watch demos to make sure they don't hack and then help them find a clan at their level rather than let them get bored or, even worse, resort to cheating to get some acclaim.
Just an idea - but I'd love to see some players come through and start ousting all you cynical old pr0s who would rather be playing football/shagging/working than play cs any more :)
Cheers

Like someone pointed out it's a vicious circle. Unless someone tries to break it then the top clans are closed shops, which not only isn't healthy for quality but also breeds frustration and, in some cases, hacking. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

For the majority (inc. me) stick to mates' teams and enjoy, but there are people who are good enough to be playing at the top level who aren't.
Is there anything wrong with embracing new players (in a non sexual way) [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

if you look at most top 20 uk sides now, you'll find theres quite a common age range... we've all been playing 2,3 or even 4 years ish so havent just appeared... so as the games gone on these teams have grown older... and because we aint going at every night to train hard and go pro, we'd much rather play and have a laff with people around our age... im 19 in july, and im the youngest member of 2seXeh, why wud we want some little 14 year old squeeking down a mic at us, then coming to lan and asking us to buy him some cider from the bar... no offence to all the little people :P
When your younger the best thing you can do, get a group of friends, play some cs, make clans etc have fun.. wait till u hit 16, then most of the clan doors will start to sway a bit at least :P [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

yer there are some good unknown players .... but not that many else it would surley be easy to form your own clan and work your way into being a top team.
fact of the matter is people always think they are better than they are [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

I'm 26, work and use cs as something to fill in the odd gap when i'm bored and there's nothing on telly. UKT is something i find entertaining as a break from footy when i'm at work.
For younger people who are good and want to do well it is very hard to get a chance to play for (or even against) a good clan and therefore progress properly.
I just like to see younger players given a chance. It stops the game from stagnating. [ Comment: Report | IP: Logged ]

1. In about the last 8 months nearly 1000 phone exchanges have been upgraded to ADSL/Cable. That's a hell of a lot people who could potentially have been playing for years on dial-up (eg. me, still) who can now mix it with the big boys. You might not have heard of them, but that doesn't mean they're dogs*** newbies.
2. CS isn't a very hard game to win by luck if you have a reasonable amount of positioning. The number of times people lose the first 5 rounds and leave is ridiculous. I suggest people look for actual evidence of cheating rather than just the fact they're getting dicked on. My point is, what's the reason for thinking you're automatically better than someone else?
